MTEC: Muslim Teachers Organisation

About Us

MTEC (Muslim Teachers & Educators Committee) is an organisation based in Tower Hamlets which works to empower teachers, governors and parents within education, and to promote community cohesion and greater participation within the wider society.

MTEC has held a number of events  in the past year. We hope to hold many more events with the support and participation of Muslim teachers and educators throughout London.

Nozrul Islam - Chairperson

I graduated from University College London with a BSc Physics & Space Science, and then completed my PGCE from the Institute of Education. I have been working as a Secondary School teacher for   7 years, and have gained experience of management responsibility within both the curriculum and pastoral area. I have delivered INSET to teachers on a wide range of subjects including behavior management and AFL.   I am married with two children, one boy and one girl, and currently Co-ordinator of Learning   in a state Secondary School in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.  


Sultan Hussain – General Secretary

I graduated from University College London with BSc Physics, and completed my PGCE from the University of East London. I grew up in the borough of Tower Hamlets and therefore well aware of the needs of Muslim students in Muslim majority schools. I am married with a daughter and am currently Deputy Head of   science in a state Secondary School in the London Borough of Newham.


Jillur Hoque – Research & Strategy Manager

I graduated from Queen Mary University with BSc Mathematics. I then completed my PGCE at the Institute of Education. I am currently on the Future Leaders senior school management training programme, and also have experience   as a teacher governor at a Muslim majority state school. I am also involved in a number of community projects, working to build a network of Muslim professionals to make positive contribution to the wider community. I am married with a daughter and currently hold a position of associate Assistant Headteacher   in a state secondary school in West London.


Zeenat Choudhury- Media and Publicity Manager

I have graduated from Imperial College and completed my PGCE from King’s College London. I have worked in various community projects involving women, and am also a senior member of Women’s Association of Professionals (WAP). I am married with a daughter and currently undertake private tutorial teaching maths.
